It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal.

Teacher: “Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today.”

Little Johnny says to himself “Good, I want to get outta here. I’m smart and will answer the question.”

Teacher: “Who said ‘Four Score and Seven Years Ago’?” Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, “Abraham Lincoln.” Teacher: “That’s right Susie, you can go home.” Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: “Who said ‘I Have a Dream’?” Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, “Martin Luther King.” Teacher: “That’s right Mary, you can go..” Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: “Who said ‘Ask not, what your country can do for you’? Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, “John F. Kennedy.” Teacher: “That’s right Nancy, you may also leave.”

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer to any of the questions.

When the teacher turns her back Johnny says, “I wish these bitches would keep their mouths shut!” The teacher turns around: “NOW WHO SAID THAT?”

Johnny: “TIGER WOODS. CAN I GO NOW?”

So many people are being effected in so many ways with the cut backs in our educational system. They have to stop offering late buses in the county that we live in and not having the late bus really has made a tremendous impact on our lives and will continue to do so I’m afraid for a long time to come. Our 13 year old has 4 more years to go and then we are done with public school and move on to college issues. And right now we are having math problems to deal with and I’m sad to say that I can’t be of much help when it comes to math answers, Precalculus help, or statistics help or chemistry help. It’s frustrating for everyone involved.

The middle school that she attends is a good 30 minute drive and with out the late bus it hasn’t been as convenient for her to stay after school to receive additional help from her teachers. The numbers are way down for the kids that used to stay after and catch the late bus.  And finding a decent tutor can become a challenge and expensive as well. So I have to say that I am grateful for what the Internet can bring to us in ways of online tutoring. She has been utilizing this Online math tutoring site at Tutornext.com, for the last few months, since school started, and we have seen a change in her grades from last year, and a change in her attitude, when it comes to math issues and homework.

I’m sure she will being using Tutornext.com in her up and coming high school years and possibly even turn to it during her college years. She wants to be a Marine Biologist and will taking plenty classes that she will be needing help with and they offer all the classes that she will be most likely needing help in. Wish I could be of more help to her, but at least there are other options out there for her that I never had when I was in school desperately looking for help.

Although we as a family do not attend church on a regular basis, we do have a strong belief in our Lord. I have always encouraged our children to visit different churches on the sabbath, with different friends and family members through out the years to get a feel of what the different religions are all about and what they have to offer them.

I would however like to go to church this Christmas. My kids are all for it, but it looks like my husband might be dragging his feet, but I have a few more weeks to work on him about the whole deal. If he doesn’t go then so be it, but I would like for the whole family to attend.

My oldest child has taken it upon himself to go online and look some information up, which I’m proud of him for making the effort. There is a lot of useful information online about the bible. He is learning about the new covenant that has folks in an uproar and has started asking me a lot of questions that I’m afraid I just can’t answer, so I’ve gone online myself to see what I can find out. Wow do I have my hands full with this challenge!

I did find a most interesting web site, ucg.org/bible/online-bible-study, that I spent some time today looking at and have sent the link to my son to check out as well. It is well written and an easy read, with information about Jesus church, and the bible. I’ve bookmarked the site and wanted to pass the link along here as well. Ho Ho Ho

All right, I have all ready had my fill of Christmas music and we still have two more weeks left before Christmas. My goodness they start playing that stuff earlier and earlier every year. It’s bad enough that they (the mall) start decorating for Christmas before we even get Halloween done and over with!

As you know, my mother asked me to check into some of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels that are so well known these days for their golfing packages. I spend a lot of time online, so I was elected to find the perfect Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel, which really isn’t too big of a deal, but right now I certainly have my hands full with all that the holidays entail. I can’t believe that Christmas is only two weeks away, so many things to get done in so little time!

At the family Christmas dinner I would like to be able to give them some information to chew on, so this afternoon was spent surfing the Net and looking at the various Myrtle Beach Hotel web sites that I have come up with. So far the SeaSide, which is located in North Myrtle Beach sounds wonderful. They have a newly constructed condominium that they are advertising. I’ve sent them an email asking for a bit more information so that I can pass what I have found on to the family. It will be a blast having the whole family (or at least those who can attend) together at the beach this summer, something to really look forward to.
