It is amazing what we, as parents, and especially we mothers, give up and sacrifice for our children. Not to mention what we give up for the rest of our families. Just a passing thought that needed to be expressed but not elaborated on. At least not here and certainly not now, sigh……

My mother really wants to buy me something for Christmas that I will enjoy and use a lot. Not something for the house mind you, but something more personal. It has been a challenge to come up with any suggestions for her, until today. I had a bit of extra time on my hands this afternoon and started browsing the Internet, where I stumbled onto a great site (Zappos.com) that has the sweetest insulated winter boots, made by Columbia, that I’ve seen in a very long time and that I think I would look pretty darn good in. Check them out!

I’m thinking that these are right in the price range of what my mother had in mind, so I sent her an email with the link to Zappos.com. Here they offer free shipping, both ways, with a  365 Day Return Policy, as well as accepting Pay Pal, which both my mother and I use quite a bit these days especially online. That’s about the only personal item that I can think of to tell her. I mean I can always use a new blender or a vacuum cleaner, or even a new hair blow dryer, but she is insisting that it not be for the house. But that’s cool, I’ve needed and wanted a new pair of boots for a few years now.

I found a great 2010 Wall Calendar to put on the kitchen wall today. It is loaded with tons of great pictures of muscle cars! And I love my muscle cars! My favorite is the 1967 Ford Mustang, it could be though because the 67 Mustang was my first car and I’ve always held the Mustang close to my heart since then.

Every year our town has a parade, my favorite part being the marching bands (I love hearing those drums) and the muscle cars that are participating each and every year. The whole town fills up with old, classic cars and motorcycles during that time of year, it’s a sight to be seen.

I can’t believe that Christmas is now just twenty days away. OMG there is way too much to do and just not enough time or money to do it all in. The kids are going to be in for a big surprise (and a big let down) on Christmas morning, I’m sorry to say. Money is just too darn tight this year with no immediate relief any where in sight. This really sucks.

My brother always cracks me up with the pick up lines that he comes up with and how often they actually work out well for him. He got married very young and it ended very badly, so he if very gun shy when it comes to making a commitment, but he loves women and the whole dating scene. He now sees himself as a well seasoned pick up artist and seems to be quite happy with his newly found bachelorhood.

I on the other hand have never been into the dating scene, I’m so glad that I’m happily married and don’t have to worry about dealing with how to flirt with men, pick up lines and all that being single has to offer. Just the thought of having to go out and find someone to spend time with and possibly hook up with gives me the willies. Besides the fact that these days sex can kill you, or can make you seriously ill and ruin your life.

Anyway it seems that my brother find a lot of his pick up lines on the Internet, how funny is that. He newest line goes something like this “I’m lost… I can’t find my friends and I’m scared… Remember when we were kids and you could just make new friends whenever you wanted… and you said ‘want to be my friend?’ Do you want to by my NEW friend?”  It must be working because he has made a lot of “new friends” lately! You should have seen the “new friend” that he brought to the family Thanksgiving dinner, but I’ll save that story is for another time!
