I’m glad that Halloween is on a Sunday this year. It makes it so much easier when it falls on a weekend, don’t you think so? My kids are getting a bit old for trick or treating but they are still wanting to wear a costume and attend the parties that are held at school and church.

I’ll be staying home handing out candy to the neighborhood kids that come up each year. Hope it is nice weather for them, it usually isn’t raining, but it can get chilly when the sun goes down and all the ghosts and goblins come out!

We have two dogs in the house. Once in a while I’ll find a pile of poop or a puddle of dog pee and I have to tell you that it is becoming a challenge in determining which of the dogs have done the dirty deed of doing their business inside the house. I had a doggy door installed last Spring, so that they can go in and out at their leisure and that has worked wonders, for the most part. But like I said every now and then one of them is not using the doggy door and I’m getting frustrated with trying to figure which one is causing the mess. What a pain!

Looks like I spoke to soon when I was bragging to my sister what a good puppy we have and how he hasn’t turned into the type of puppy that chews everything up around the place. No sooner had I told her that then I went downstairs and found that the little critter had chewed up several cables and wires that hook up a bunch of electronics that keep the big screen TV running, sigh……I’m so glad that my Dad was home and was able to come to our rescue and came downstairs and had everything that was needed in order to get everything back under control and up and running again for my daughter and me.

Looks like I need to make a run to the local Petco and find our puppy some new chew toys to keep him occupied with something other than our personal stuff around the place. I have a Petco card and a few coupons that they sent me so today I’m running a bunch of errands and Petco is first on the list.

I’ve heard much about the Walden University’s online degree programs that are helping so many people get their degrees which ultimately enables them to make the “big” bucks. In these past few darken years of being stuck right smack dab in a major Depression the “big” bucks is what we are all striving for. In order to learn about Walden I spent some time checking them out online, I found that at WaldenU.edu that they have a very intensive website that took some time for me to absorb. You gotta remember, I just barely made it out of High School. College was never really in the picture for me, back in those days. All my mother wanted me to do was to become a secretary and marry the rich boss, she never really got over the fact that I ended up in the food and beverage industry, a bar wench.

Anyway, I’m thinking of getting into the Social Services field since I have a good heart and know how to talk and deal with people. I think that I am a compassionate human being that enjoys assisting people in any way that I can, been known to literally give the shirt off of my back to some one that needs it more than I do. Anyone that is dealing with people in need most definitely require a HUGE dose of compassion and unfortunately what I have found from personal experience and from thousands of horror stories that I have heard from friends, family and my bar customers, is that the majority of these “professionals” are seriously lacking any type of compassion along with a lot of other qualifications that I think are necessary for this type of career. I think anyone that chooses a career (any career really) should enjoy it to a certain extent and not in it just for the money.

I like to think that I help a lot of people while tending the bar, but the tip jar is rarely flowing over from them all. Knowing that I could be doing the same thing and was guarenteed to go home on payday with a sum that would not only pay the rent on a house of my own as well as the utilities, insurance premiums, taxes, and keep gas, oil and decent tires on the car, well it would be awsome. But at the end of the day if I look in the mirror and like what I see because of what I have done for somebody that day that really effected their lives that day well that is just be the ultimate high.

Had a surprise waiting for me down in the basement today when I went down with a huge arm load of dirty laundry to load into the washing machine. One foot away from the washer and dryer was a little black snake with a very bright yellow ring around it’s neck! I do not like snakes, they creep me out and scare me something awful. My Dad isn’t home for the weekend so I couldn’t holler for him to come down and take care of it so I looked around to find something to try and keep it contained and came up with a small bathroom type waste basket and carefully placed in over it and then put a heavy tool box on top of that to keep it weighted down, giving it no way to escape from there, at least that is what I’m hoping for!

After securing the critter I immediately got upstairs and got on the computer and looked up what type of snake it is. I knew that it was a Ringneck, but wasn’t sure if it was dangerous and thank goodness it isn’t, so I am thankful for that. Now I just wish Dad would get home and take care of the situation.
