This is the time of the year that the house gets invaded by bugs, ants and spiders so we have our local pest control company come out and give the house a go over with his magic spraying machines and the variety of traps that they use in order to keep these pesky pests under control.

This time when he came out I told him that I have been finding evidence of some mice here and there, so he set us up with a couple of old fashioned mouse traps that he baited with some new fangled cheese flavored gunk that comes out of a can much like the Cheese Whiz does. If I didn’t know any better I would swear that it is Cheese Whiz. Whatever it was, it is working. Each trap that he placed throughout has trapped a mouse and since I grab an old rag and pick up the dead mouse stilled in the trap and toss the whole kit and caboodle in the trash we now need to buy some more traps to set up again and hopefully we can get this mouse situation tackled in short order.

I’m glad to know that people all over the world are doing wonderful things in a huge effort to save our Mother Earth. Being “green” is certainly the way to be these days and rightfully so, says I. I have always done all that I can possibly do to recycle at home and at work. When I worked for a major insurance company I started and coordinated a recycling program that I hope is still be continued today even though I haven’t worked there for over a decade. It gave me something to sink my teeth into and it was a positive energy that I put to good use and was proud of the way it all turned out.

I’m now learning about e-waste recycling, which I am beginning to think is very interesting. Veolia Environmental Services, a waste management and industrial services which is located in Australia and their web site, Veoliaes.com.au, is one that I stumbled on the other night while looking up some information concerning waste management in Astralia.

I’m thinking on suggesting that the company that I work for now look into a program for their e-waste recycling items that are currently just getting tossed into the trash, thus landing in our precious land fills. I think I’m up for the challenge, it worked well with the last office, years back, so it only makes sense to try again.

Guest post of the week by Deangelo Spencer

My youngest daughter lives in Millstadt, Illinois, a small rural town, in the southwestern part of the state, bordering Missouri. The population is less than five thousand and most of them are of German descent, one of which is my son-in-law. My daughter is a GRITS – a girl raised in the south, and, having been raised in a much larger city than Millstadt, she initially had a difficult time adjusting to life there. Her husband works in the family business. He knew he would settle back there after college, which is where he met my daughter, so she will always live in Millstadt. I have been to visit several times and found it be a quaint little town. I will be visiting more than ever now that I have a grandchild there! One of the first things I encouraged my daughter and son-in-law to do while they were expecting was call millstadt home security and have a security system installed. She tells me it was the best decision she and her husband ever made.

I had stopped in the roadside market just out of town today and, apparently, the talk of the week was about how to go about buying police and military gear and accessories. The main topic of course, was SWAT gear!

I’d remembered my nephew mentioning about a website that sold police gear and that kind of stuff over the Internet. Naturally I interjected with this information and wouldn’t you know that half of them still didn’t have much knowledge about computers!! I said, “Look, if you want to order things without leaving the farm, you really should obtain a computer! Besides, the only place I know for you to get that kind of stuff  is online.”

I am sitting at my computer exhausted and trying to distract myself from work. I am suppose to be looking up Texas Electricity Providers for my boss, but I feel like I have been working non-stop and have not had a second to breathe since I came in this morning. I have decided to update my blog (that I have not updated in two months!). I usually am not the slacker on my blog or at my job that I appear to be. I think that I am just burned out. My co-worker who basically had my same job title quit three months ago. She fell in love, eloped in Vegas, and never came back to work. I of course, have gotten slammed with all of her work because the HR department is just about as slow as Christmas when it comes to the hiring process. I have basically been doing two jobs and have only been getting paid to do one. I have gotten behind in all things personal life. I miss blogging and staying in touch with friends. They have got to hire someone soon!
