I’ve heard much about the Walden University’s online degree programs that are helping so many people get their degrees which ultimately enables them to make the “big” bucks. In these past few darken years of being stuck right smack dab in a major Depression the “big” bucks is what we are all striving for. In order to learn about Walden I spent some time checking them out online, I found that at WaldenU.edu that they have a very intensive website that took some time for me to absorb. You gotta remember, I just barely made it out of High School. College was never really in the picture for me, back in those days. All my mother wanted me to do was to become a secretary and marry the rich boss, she never really got over the fact that I ended up in the food and beverage industry, a bar wench.

Anyway, I’m thinking of getting into the Social Services field since I have a good heart and know how to talk and deal with people. I think that I am a compassionate human being that enjoys assisting people in any way that I can, been known to literally give the shirt off of my back to some one that needs it more than I do. Anyone that is dealing with people in need most definitely require a HUGE dose of compassion and unfortunately what I have found from personal experience and from thousands of horror stories that I have heard from friends, family and my bar customers, is that the majority of these “professionals” are seriously lacking any type of compassion along with a lot of other qualifications that I think are necessary for this type of career. I think anyone that chooses a career (any career really) should enjoy it to a certain extent and not in it just for the money.

I like to think that I help a lot of people while tending the bar, but the tip jar is rarely flowing over from them all. Knowing that I could be doing the same thing and was guarenteed to go home on payday with a sum that would not only pay the rent on a house of my own as well as the utilities, insurance premiums, taxes, and keep gas, oil and decent tires on the car, well it would be awsome. But at the end of the day if I look in the mirror and like what I see because of what I have done for somebody that day that really effected their lives that day well that is just be the ultimate high.

chikin

This was such a clever ad campaign. I have seen variations of this billboard all up and down the East Coast for years. I do like Chick-Fil-A and I love their sense of humor, too.

New homes are easy to come by in this market, so many of my clients are younger than ever before. These younger generation buyers don’t always know the best things to ask at closings so I do my best to lead them through the process effectively. Sometimes they ask me questions I don’t know the answer to especially since I’m a bit older, so recently when someone asked me about mobile internet I had to defer the question to a college. I hated that feeling so that night I went online and got some MORE INFO for my own reference. The next time anyone asks me anything about wimax or broadband or 4G I’m going to be ready! From what I learned, this kind of internet sounds like a really good solution for a lot of homebuyers and I’m even considering ordering it myself. I like to be as prepared as possible since my business is my creditability. There’s nothing worse than a real estate agent that knows less about the industry than you do!

They say that things happen for a reason. The only good thing that will come out of all of this flood water that has invaded my home over the weekend, is that my carpets will be getting a good cleaning. I’m so thankful that I have a basement, if not for that, my whole first floor could have and most likely would have been ruined and I’d really be ticked off at the world, more than I am even now.

When I first moved in here I had no idea that the basement had leaking water issues, it didn’t take long to find out and that is why I haven’t done a whole heck of a lot down there, although the water that comes in isn’t usually all that much. I use the basement basically for storage and have most things up on shelves and wooden pallets. But not everything immediately finds its way up to where it belongs, such as the case of the nice piece of carpet that I picked up at a flea market last year. I had intended to look up carpet cleaning tips and see if I could clean it well enough myself instead of paying some company an arm and a leg to do it for me, before I laid it out in my bedroom. It was one of those things that just never made it to the top of the “To Do List” that is always being added to.

Of course now it is too late and I have had to call an emergency water damage company to come and save what can be saved. I went online and looked up carpet cleaning services in austin and found The Steam Team at http://www.thesteamteam.com/ they seem to do it all and they are scheduled to come first thing tomorrow morning. One good thing about working nights is that I can usually be home during the morning for service calls like this. I like to be home for service calls like this so that I can watch, learn, listen and ask questions and you never know, I might even find my “dream man” in a uniform knocking at my door, that would make two good things that could come out of this nightmare.

I’ve always imagined that the advertising business would be an awesome business to get into. All the different people that you would get to meet and all the places that it would take you to in the whole exciting and fast paced process. I remember watching the old TV show “Bewitched” were both of her Darrin husbands (remember there were two of them) worked for his boss Larry Tate at  the McMann and Tate Advertising Agency in the beautiful, always sunny state of California. I always envied Samantha and always wished that I looked like her, had her powers, her life, her kids, her house, even her wacky relatives seemed appealing to a young girl like myself back in those days. The way that they were always chasing down accounts with some of the most interesting and entertaining people. And all the entertaining that they did at their house for the Advertising Agency , one that paid the bills nicely, it just fascinated me and I seriously thought that I would grow up in a marriage and lifestyle that they led, with or without the magic, but a girl could dream, right?

Now “I Dream of Jeanie” was another story. I liked that show as well, but it was much more unrealistic, for the most part, but still enjoyable. Of course Jeanie hooked up with an astronaut that didn’t want her to use her powers versus Samatha marrying a man who worked for a large well to do Advertising Agency, who didn’t want her to use her powers either. I never could understand that concept, I don’t think most people did, but both shows were hit shows for a good run. Once in a while I’ll stumble across a channel that is playing some of the reruns, if I have the time and in the right mood, they are good for a chuckle or two and they bring back some pretty cool childhood memories as well.
