Last minute ordeals are not my cup of tea these days. I remember the days when I could just drop everything and go with the flow, but those days are long gone. I really miss the days of being so spontaneous, but it happens to the best of us, I fear.

Yesterday morning my sister called in a panic and made be promise to go with her that night to a big party that she could not miss and could not face going alone. Being as her phone call woke me up, I wasn’t 100% awake and didn’t quite realize the commitment that I had just made. It takes a lot of time and effort to get ready for a business party. Dressing up and stepping out isn’t something that I do that often so I have gotten out of the habit of preparing for an event like this. But I can truly say that it was worth all the hassle and a good time was had by all.

The house that this party was held at was one of the most elegant houses I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in. Too bad that the owners aren’t around most of the time to enjoy all of it’s benefits. I really loved the slate water fountains that they had in located at various strategist positions in the house. There is something about water that just soothes my mind, body and soul. I would give anything to have a master bath such as the one that these folks had in their master bedroom. If I had a jacuzzi in my bathroom, I swear you would never see me, I’d be in there the majority of my time. I can guarantee that!

My sister has a membership to the local Sam’s Club, here in town. Once in a while I will go along with her and find some pretty amazing bargains. This year for Christmas I would really love to be able and buy my hubby a Tom Tom GPS system for him to use. The poor guy has the worst sense of direction and is famous for not wanting to ask for directions, from anyone. I guess that is pretty typical for most men, but most frustrating for the other folks that are having to deal with the issue, mainly me! If he wants to be the driver than he needs a decent navigator to assist him.

It seems that all most everyone has some sort of GPS these days and I hear the name Tom Tom quite a bit, so I’m going to check what Sam’s Club has to offer in that line. I’m looking to find one possibly under the $150 mark. So this Friday, which is payday for me, after work, sis and I are going to head into town and she was Sam’s Club has to offer in GPS. I’ll keep you posted.

I know it is only June, but when you think about it, Christmas is only 6 months away!

I can not believe that our company is making all of these constant changes.  First they fire or lay off too many people and then they had to bring them back. Then they change this and that to the point that it almost feels like everyone changed jobs. It’s just crazy. Now they are even making more changes. We have all been told it is to make the company run more efficiently and save money so there is more profit. Probably for the company and not us but at least I still have a job.

Well part of my new job description seems to be the head of finding or creating a new letterhead and then finding wholesale letterhead printing. Well that’s the easy part, finding the printer, designing, I might need some help with that one. Then again, they want cheap and you get what you pay for right??  Not always anyway, if you find a great print company like I found. I think I smell a raise for me.  Well I hope that’s what I smell anyway. If not a raise at least a good old fashioned “pat-on-the-back” to show some recognition for my hard work for this company all these years.

To further one’s education has always been a good thing. And now with the economy taking it’s toll on so many us, I’m hearing that the number of people enrolling Technical Schools is on the rise. Jobs are hard to come by these days so any type of Technical and/or Trade Schools are a must in order to get a decent paying position for most of us. I’m so pleased that the Internet has made taking college classes so much easier. It all takes time, but by using the Internet it can and does shave a good amount of our precious time off of the whole college process.

Career Colleges, Technical Schools and Trade Schools can be found collegesurfing.com. I have been tinkering with the whole idea of taking a Culinary Arts Class. I have always enjoyed cooking and am looking for a change of careers in the near future. I’m not in a hurry but want to start researching some of my ideas and be prepared and know what I’m getting into. Home Study is something that I think I can handle, going back to a school room environment just isn’t my cup of tea all though I’m sure I’d meet some interesting people and get into some interesting conversations that your computer just isn’t capable of doing quite yet!

Installing doors and windows is no easy task, not something that I would want to even try to attempt to do if I had any other options available to me. That is why I told my sister to Google “door and window replacement” to find a company to have it done and to count me out this time. I don’t mind helping with household chores and tasks for friends and families, but there are just somethings that I know I can’t do justice for and this is certainly one time that I feel this way.

She did find pellavirginia.com online in no time flat. I told her that I would help pitch in on some of the cost since I can’t help contribute labor wise. Money is tight for everyone, but if we all pitch in and help each other out when they can, we should all be able to get through these economically challenged times that seem to keep dragging on and on and on and on. It’s time like these when just about all we have is our family and if we are lucky, maybe a few close friends that can lend a hand. It makes me feel bad for people that don’t have anyone to depend on for anything.

I was blessed to come from a rather large family, is was great growing up with so many close relatives that all basically lived in the same neighborhood. A good amount all lived on the same street. But as times changed people moved, houses were torn down and there is only one relative that still resides on that street in Vienna, Va.
