Too bad that May Day isn’t celebrated with the May Pole anymore. What a fun way to celebrate the start of a wonderful warm spring season, the month of May is definitely my favorite of all.

Cinco de Mayo however is a huge event, it is most unfortunate that this Boston Bombing scare is going to impact a lot of the usual celebrations and festivities this year, sigh…..

Just the thought of all that the cheap line 6 backtrack portable digital recorder has done for my cousin puts a smile on my face. I didn’t even realize that such a devise existed until I got the Christmas present wish list with his name marked next to mine. Each Christmas my eldest sister organizes the family gift giving ritual, not an easy job considering how extended and dysfunctional my family has become. I’m glad that she has the yearly task and not me.

I love the fact that you can plug this digital recording devise to your guitar and records every note that you play so that you can play it back and hear what it sounded like at your convenience. Now how cool is that?

I have enjoyed spending my Friday off of work, getting some things around the house done and quite honestly a good amount of time just chilling and spending time on my laptop, while eating up all the left-overs from the past couple of meals. I hate throwing food away, I can be a real stinker about wasting food. I’m kind of OCD in that way. But then we all have our own little unique oddities, needs and wants in this life time.

So while doing some idle web surfing I ran across some Washburn Guitars at music123 that they are slashing prices left and right at. I’m guessing they are still trying to clear the shelves of last year’s merchandise to make room for the new bigger and better stuff that we all just can’t seem to live without! This is a perfect time to get your taxes back if you want to find great discounts on many online businesses that are bending over backwards to keep their online shoppers happy.

I was thinking about it the other day that I did not buy one single Christmas present that I didn’t get online. Even the things that I had picked up throughout the year, it was all done via the Internet. Imagine that!

It can be so frustrating to speak up with ideas at the local monthly Ruritan meetings that I have managed to attend this past year or so, only to be shot down time after time. I was told that this well-known “service club” was in need of some fresh blood and some newer, younger faces, after attending these many boring meetings I can see why they aren’t growing as they should. I swear a couple of the members look and act old enough to be one of the original Ruritans that started back in 1928 with the goal of achieving Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service. They certainly mean well but times have changed and the needs and interests of the community are always changing so they need to be way more flexible and open minded than from what I’m seeing.

They want to start up their yearly “Yard Sale” that they stopped doing three years ago because of several factors that hindered the success, which caused them to just stop holding this possible money making event. Part of the argument(s) is how to get the word out about this yard sale that is supposed to be held over the Memorial Day Weekend. I suggested that we look into postcard printing options and take advantage of the opportunity through the post office to send out a massive and inexpensive postcard mailing to each resident in our small town of just over 2,000. As soon as the suggestion was out of my mouth the “old farts” started in with their negativity without giving me a fair chance to finish what I was saying with all the facts that I had gathered to share with them. I had to catch my breath, count to ten and keep my cool. I plan on talking with a few other members in the next week or so before I stand up and say another word and keep attending these meetings.

Went treasure hunting today with my sister. We went a few towns over and found some thrift stores that we had never been in before and decided to check them out together. Shopping is so much more fun with a friend or a sister. I’m glad that we went, we each found a few pieces that we couldn’t live without for only a few dollars, mainly jewelry and things for the kitchen, but it’s all good!

When we got back to her place we spent some time on her computer sharing some websites that we have found and wanted to talk about as well as a few funny pictures as well as some pretty entertaining videos on YouTube.com that kept us laughing and in a light hearted mood. I took this opportunity to show her  rockymountaintrail.com for patagonia mens jackets that I was thinking she might want to see and possibly order for her hubby’s birthday that is coming up in March. It will still be cold in March so he would still get some use out of it until next falls comes back around. He is hard to buy for (most men are though I have to admit) and a few of these jackets really stood out that I think would look real nice on him and that he might actually enjoy wearing.
