I’m glad that Halloween is on a Sunday this year. It makes it so much easier when it falls on a weekend, don’t you think so? My kids are getting a bit old for trick or treating but they are still wanting to wear a costume and attend the parties that are held at school and church.

I’ll be staying home handing out candy to the neighborhood kids that come up each year. Hope it is nice weather for them, it usually isn’t raining, but it can get chilly when the sun goes down and all the ghosts and goblins come out!

I remember the first time I heard the song Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, by the Irish Rovers, man I thought I’d never stop laughing. Although that was many years ago and we have all heard the song way too many times I still have to giggle at it each Christmas season and Christmas is fast approaching!

I received several new released DVD’s as gifts this year for my birthday and the one that I am the most excited about having is Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hears A Who, one of my favorite childhood authors, his stories that have made it to the big screen so far have been great.

I’ve heard good things about this movie and Wall E is another one that I got that I am happy to have, these are both good quality family entertainment movies, good clean fun and I love them all the more for it.

My girl friend should have sent this picture to me a few weeks ago. Now that Christmas is done and over with I don’t want to hear or see anything else about Christmas until next year!  But it is a cute one that I had to share here. Good thing we have over 300 days to go.

I appreciate the guest post, Jamie Guy

Christmas with a touch of amateur wrestling, unruly 5 to 12 year olds, fanatical church services, falling off roofs, and parents that are a lot less than understandable. Four Christmases gives you this and a whole lot more. Actually, it really makes you wonder if that relationship you are in is worth it. How much do you really ever know about someone else? Visit their family at Christmastime and you’ll see.

direct tv channels offer many viewings on both the movie channels and network tv. While this movie does not have all the happiness and feel good squishiness of the classic movies, this is quickly becoming a classic in its own right. Anyone who has ever had a long term relationship without the marraige factor can definitely relate to this movie. I love the way Vince Vaughn captures the feelings of despair at having to deal with family at Christmas, and how he is able to overcome and adapt to a variety of really wierd situations.

Reese Witherspoon also delivers a powerful performance in conveying the confusion of dealing with so many new people and situations as she is paraded through her lover’s family problems. Wierd and riveting are definitely two words to describe this film. If you like to laugh this movie is a must see. A definite holiday favorite for years to come.
