My daughter is always coming up with something that just seems to blow my mind, but I guess that is what most tweens do to their parents, sigh. Her latest issue is with the under garments that she is currently wearing, she is complaining that she no longer wants to wear the underwear that I have been buying for her since she stopped wearing diapers and she now wants me to buy her boxers, like the one’s that her best friend is now wearing.

I can’t imagine how uncomfortable this girl is wearing boxers under her tight fitting jeans. I have tried to explain to my daughter that her jeans will not fit the same if she starts wearing boxers but she has a strong will (wonder where she got that from?) and a mind of her own and of course I am just her mother so what do I know right?

Guess I pick her up a couple of pairs these weekend and see how they feel to her and take it from there. I’ll bet we will need to go shopping for jeans that will accommodate all that extra material that will be bunching up inside.

My daughter and I have made a date to go to the park this weekend, it will most likely be the last good weather weekend that we will see in a very long time I fear, so I don’t want to spend it inside doing house work or her in her room playing on the computer or her PlayStation.

They recently finished revamping this particular park a few months ago. They installed some really cool and exciting playground equipment for all the neighborhood kids to play on safely, instead of the old wooden crap that has been there for as long as I can remember. Can’t tell you how many kids have gotten hurt there and all of the splinters that send so many kids home crying. New Picnic Tables and Park Benches have been installed as well, which is a plus for the parents and other care takers that end up there for hours that deserved better sitting arrangements for a long time now.

I’m not too much into packing a picnic basket, or grilling, but I do think that we will stop at the KFC and pick up some of their famous fried chicken, mashed potatoes w/ gravy along with their delicious coleslaw. I need to remember to take the camera and I really hope nothing happens in the mean time to mess up our weekend plans for just the two of us on a great day during this short but sweet Indian Summer.

Looks like I spoke to soon when I was bragging to my sister what a good puppy we have and how he hasn’t turned into the type of puppy that chews everything up around the place. No sooner had I told her that then I went downstairs and found that the little critter had chewed up several cables and wires that hook up a bunch of electronics that keep the big screen TV running, sigh……I’m so glad that my Dad was home and was able to come to our rescue and came downstairs and had everything that was needed in order to get everything back under control and up and running again for my daughter and me.

Looks like I need to make a run to the local Petco and find our puppy some new chew toys to keep him occupied with something other than our personal stuff around the place. I have a Petco card and a few coupons that they sent me so today I’m running a bunch of errands and Petco is first on the list.

Last night I did my once a week routine of stopping by my grandparent’s house to have dinner with them when I got off work. My grandfather is now 81 years old and he still goes to work every single day. Papa has been practicing law for 60-something years, and when he talks about his cases and the people he is able to help, his eyes light up. My grandmother was a nurse while Papa was in law school, and shortly after he graduated she retired from the working world forever. These days Grandma spends the majority of her days at Kroger hunting a deal for dinner or admiring the tomatoes in her garden and wishing they would ripen more quickly. Papa heads home from work around 3:00 each day. He spends a few hours playing around on his computer while Grandma prepares their nightly meal. The food is always simple, nutritious and prepared with love. The best part of the meal is always the conversation. Papa eats quickly while sharing long-winded tales of wilder days, and no matter how interesting they are, he always cuts them short in order to watch Gunsmoke on his http://www.expertsatellite.com/. At times these dinners are inconvenient, but I know that in a few short years, I’ll be thinking of them as some of the most precious nights of my life.

Boy I have to say that Trade Shows certainly have come a long way since the last time I attended one, which was I’m guessing around 7 or 8 years ago.  Yesterday I went with a girl friend to a Trade Show that her parents were participating in, we got there nice and early and helped them get all set up with their brand new trade show flooring and their logo canopy and logo mats that they had custom made, with their company’s name and logo nicely displayed for all to see and hopefully remember next time they need the services of a mail and packaging store and pick their newly open store.

It takes a lot of guts to open a new business these days with the economy still in such a mess, with no end in sight. I was surprised to see so many new businesses there yesterday just because of that fact. This particular Trade Show was put on specifically for new business owners, which I think was a grand idea, they are going to need all the help that they can get right now. It was so cool to see all the neat stuff that has come out recently for folks to use at these Trade Shows, this one particular business had the nicest trade show carpet that I have ever seen, I actually took a picture of it with my cell phone camera. Never thought I’d take a picture of any type of carpet. LOL
