AND THE OLD FARMER TOOK CARE OF THINGS HIS WAY!

Air Force One crashed in the middle of rural America . Panic stricken, the local sheriff mobilized and descended on the farm in force. When they got there, the disaster was clear. The aircraft was totally destroyed with only a burned hulk left smoldering in a tree line that bordered a farm. The sheriff and his men entered the smoking mess but could find no remains of anyone, including the President.

They spotted a lone farmer plowing a field not too far away as if nothing at all happened. They hurried over to the man’s tractor.

“Hank,” the sheriff yelled, panting and out of breath. “Did you see this terrible accident happen?”

“Yep. Sure did.” the farmer mumbled unconcernedly, cutting off the tractor’s engine.

”Do you realize that is the airplane of the President of the United States ?”

“Yep.”

“Were there any survivors?”

”Nope. They’s all kilt straight out,” the farmer answered. “I done buried them all myself. Took me most of the morning…”

“President Obama is dead?” the sheriff shouted.

”Well,” the farmer grumbled, restarting his tractor. “He kept a-saying he wasn’t…

But you know how bad that sumbitch lies.”

I love hearing from my best friend who moved to Texas almost 4 years ago. I miss her so much, we have been best friends since the 4th grade and you couldn’t ask for a closer and better friendship then what we share. Thank goodness for cell phones, email and Instant Messaging, that way we can communicate almost on a daily basis. We always have so much to talk about, it amazes us both that we don’t run out of things to say to each other.

She bought a Chevrolet Silverado when she moved down there. She wanted a new and reliable car to depend on while finding her way around her new home town. She has found the need to find a reliable car repair and service center in order to get a brake job done that she knows is needed on her fairly new car. The Internet has made that task a much easier one to tackle. She found a great site at repairpal.com that has assisted her in finding a good Dallas auto repair shop.

She isn’t married and has no one to turn to for help with car issues and she needs to make sure that the place that she picks will do her and her new car good, all the way around. With vehicles it is a never ending battle keeping them up and running. I wish her luck.

My first car was a 1967 Ford Mustang, god how I loved that car. She had a 287 under the hood, with a 3 speed on the floor and she could stomp all the other cars in a heart beat. She not only looked good and ran good, but she sounded good too. I got pulled over one time buy a State Cop who said that I had “glass packs” on her proceeded to crawl under her to see. Heck I didn’t even know what “glass packs” were back then. He did seem very disappointed that he didn’t find anything illegal on her and let me go on my merry way, thank goodness!

I ran across an interesting site the other evening that had all types of car and truck exhaust systems and interesting exhaust tips listed, which I found to be of good reading quality and it reminded me of my run in with the law with my beloved Mustang, back in the good old days. I wish that I still had her. Once in a while I’ll see one some where that looks just like her and it brings back some really cool memories. Maybe one day I’ll find another 67 Ford Mustang that I can buy and I’ll be in Mustang heaven once again.

Our 2006 Chevrolet Silverado seems to be in need of a brake job, sigh….More money being spent on transportation, will it never end? If it isn’t one thing it is another with the vehicles that we have at this point. It seems that each month one of our vehicles is in need of something or another. My husband is pretty handy with a wrench but today’s vehicles all need the attention of a computer and so many specific tools that he just doesn’t have handy, so it is almost impossible to do anything other than take it to the shop for the required work.

It depends on the vehicle and the credit card balance at the time of the required work. This time I decided to use the Internet and see if I could find a decent Dallas auto repair shop online that might be able to assist us with this task. I found a website Repairpal.com that allows you to type in your required location, required service needs and the type of vehicle in need and then leads you to companies that are out there that can help you. It was pretty cool actually, I found a repair shop that I had never heard of, so I gave them a call and I have an appointment for the morning. We will see how it all pans out and I’ll keep you posted.

Today is a good day. I spent the morning at H & R Block getting my 2009 taxes done and I’m glad to say that I’m getting a nice sized check in the mail in the next couple of weeks (or so they said) and now I’ve got to figure out the best way to treat that new found money. Of course there are a couple of credit cards that I need to pay off and then I should have a few bucks to play around with at my leisure.

My sister is trying to convenience me to take a long weekend and head for Myrtle Beach. Of course she wants to tag along with me during this adventure that sounds so nice right now. She has gone online and found a nice Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel that she thinks would be perfect for us to utilize and enjoy come the middle of summer, it’s called The Grande Shores Resort and seems to be one of the nicer Myrtle Beach Resort Hotels that we’ve seen so far. She has been sending me emails for the past couple of weeks about Myrtle Beach, with links to various places to stay at and visit while down there.

I’d really rather wait and see what her tax refund check looks like before I commit to anything at this point. I’d have a better idea of how much this is all going to cost me. In the mean time we will continue to Goggle “Resort in Myrtle Beach” and see what pops up and keep bookmarking interesting websites that we will go back to when the time comes.

I haven’t been to any trade shows in a while, but I’ve been invited to go to one with my mom and dad in a few weeks. They own their own mail and packaging store and are trying to drum up some business. Times are tough right now and trade shows are a fun and good way to network and get the word out on your services and goods.

The products that are available these days to use at trade shows are pretty awesome. My mom and I were looking on the Internet at the trade show flooring and trade show carpet that is all the rage and she is interested in purchasing some before the big event. So many items to choose from though. My mom is a Libra and has a hard time making a decision, bless her heart, so that is where I come into play from time to time.

My dad wants some logo mats and possibly a logo canopy and I’m the one who needs to assist them in this task. Lucky me huh? We still have some time and I have some more research to do before I speak my mind about this I can tell you that!

Today I got some sad news. One of my best friends, since childhood, is moving. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for her, she is moving out to the San Diego area in California, which is totally awesome. It’s just that it is all the way across the country and I just wish I could go with her!

She is now busy online getting Moving Estimates, trying to find the best bang for her buck. The Internet is a great resource for tasks just like this one. I’m only familiar with our Local Movers, so I can’t help her out there much. When I moved I just looked in the local Yellow Pages and found the Local Moving company with the biggest ad in the book, the Internet was just catching on and I didn’t use it that much back then. Now you can find Local Moving Quotes with just a few short key strokes.

I guess one day maybe I’ll have enough money to be able to fly out there for a nice long visit. Lord knows I couldn’t handle a long drive that it would take to get out there. She is going to be real close to the beach, so that will be cool. I’ve never been to California before. Life is crazy, this just came out of no where.
