My daughter and I have made a date to go to the park this weekend, it will most likely be the last good weather weekend that we will see in a very long time I fear, so I don’t want to spend it inside doing house work or her in her room playing on the computer or her PlayStation.

They recently finished revamping this particular park a few months ago. They installed some really cool and exciting playground equipment for all the neighborhood kids to play on safely, instead of the old wooden crap that has been there for as long as I can remember. Can’t tell you how many kids have gotten hurt there and all of the splinters that send so many kids home crying. New Picnic Tables and Park Benches have been installed as well, which is a plus for the parents and other care takers that end up there for hours that deserved better sitting arrangements for a long time now.

I’m not too much into packing a picnic basket, or grilling, but I do think that we will stop at the KFC and pick up some of their famous fried chicken, mashed potatoes w/ gravy along with their delicious coleslaw. I need to remember to take the camera and I really hope nothing happens in the mean time to mess up our weekend plans for just the two of us on a great day during this short but sweet Indian Summer.

I forgot about the water ants that arrive in my house this time of the year. Thank goodness they are only attracted to water and not food and sweets, that can be a real pain in the ass, all year round. These little black ants are always found hanging out in the kitchen and the bathrooms and are a real challenge to get rid of. I’m so glad that they don’t bite either.

Sometimes I wonder why I tell people that Spring is my favorite season!

They say that things happen for a reason. The only good thing that will come out of all of this flood water that has invaded my home over the weekend, is that my carpets will be getting a good cleaning. I’m so thankful that I have a basement, if not for that, my whole first floor could have and most likely would have been ruined and I’d really be ticked off at the world, more than I am even now.

When I first moved in here I had no idea that the basement had leaking water issues, it didn’t take long to find out and that is why I haven’t done a whole heck of a lot down there, although the water that comes in isn’t usually all that much. I use the basement basically for storage and have most things up on shelves and wooden pallets. But not everything immediately finds its way up to where it belongs, such as the case of the nice piece of carpet that I picked up at a flea market last year. I had intended to look up carpet cleaning tips and see if I could clean it well enough myself instead of paying some company an arm and a leg to do it for me, before I laid it out in my bedroom. It was one of those things that just never made it to the top of the “To Do List” that is always being added to.

Of course now it is too late and I have had to call an emergency water damage company to come and save what can be saved. I went online and looked up carpet cleaning services in austin and found The Steam Team at http://www.thesteamteam.com/ they seem to do it all and they are scheduled to come first thing tomorrow morning. One good thing about working nights is that I can usually be home during the morning for service calls like this. I like to be home for service calls like this so that I can watch, learn, listen and ask questions and you never know, I might even find my “dream man” in a uniform knocking at my door, that would make two good things that could come out of this nightmare.

Last night was a night that I had a rough time falling asleep. It seemed as if as soon as I’d fall asleep I would wake up with a start and start tossing and turning once again. Since I couldn’t sleep I turned the TV on and found that every channel was talking about the crisis over in Japan. What I found interesting was that it is always focused on the Reactors and the issues going on with that stressful issue. Don’t get me wrong this is a serious concern, but I haven’t heard anything about the poor people that were effected by the earthquake and the tsunami, except for maybe a blurb or two once in a while how aid is finally coming to Japan by ways of bottles of water and rice.

I just heard that the Black Eyed Peas were just over in Japan, filming a new video and had left just a few days before this crisis hit. I can imagine how people were over there right before all this happened and that they are all thanking their lucky stars that they got out just in the nick of time.

There is a lot more I could talk about what is going on over there, but since I didn’t get much sleep last night I’m pooped and heading for bed in hopes of getting a decent night’s sleep tonight. Good night and God Bless.

It seems like we have been having a rash of serious earthquakes being reported on the morning and/or evening  news in recent years. The Richter Scale ratings are generally in the 6 point range, which is pretty devistating and the cause of severe damage to life, limb and properties. I haven’t heard of one as high as the one that just hit Japan. This sucker was 8.6, that is just crazy!

The pictures and the stories that I’m seeing on Yahoo.com are outrageous. I’m so grateful that no one that I know or love is over in that part of the country right now, or at least I don’t know of anyone, but that doesn’t mean a whole heck of a lot in today’s high transient world.  I’m sure I’ll run into someone in the future that was there, or knew someone or was related to someone who had the misfortune to be any where near where this quake decided to ruin millions and millions of people’s lives and businesses.

I understand that the after shocks are still coming strong and that the latest was rated as a 6.8 on The Richter Scale. And that has now been rated as ????5th largest earthquake in the world since 1900. This is the latest photo that I’ve seen on Yahoo.com, can you imagine looking at this up close and personal like, not me dude!
