This is the time of the year that the house gets invaded by bugs, ants and spiders so we have our local pest control company come out and give the house a go over with his magic spraying machines and the variety of traps that they use in order to keep these pesky pests under control.

This time when he came out I told him that I have been finding evidence of some mice here and there, so he set us up with a couple of old fashioned mouse traps that he baited with some new fangled cheese flavored gunk that comes out of a can much like the Cheese Whiz does. If I didn’t know any better I would swear that it is Cheese Whiz. Whatever it was, it is working. Each trap that he placed throughout has trapped a mouse and since I grab an old rag and pick up the dead mouse stilled in the trap and toss the whole kit and caboodle in the trash we now need to buy some more traps to set up again and hopefully we can get this mouse situation tackled in short order.

There was another break-in in the neighborhood over the weekend. I don’t know the family all that well and thank goodness no one was at home when it happened. That is one of the many scary aspects of having someone break into your home, you can always get more stuff, and hopefully you are insured for your stuff, but if you were to be hurt or worse killed that is something that just can’t be replaced.

It is a “sign of the times” is what everyone keeps saying, since the economy tanked out many years ago, folks are getting more desperate as the days go by for money and the amount of break ins done by people who have little else to fall back onto is increasing like crazy. With all of these break ins more folks are having come and install security systems in their homes, properties and businesses to try and prevent these tragedies from happening and if it does happen they might have a better chance of catching the crook and bringing them to justice and maybe even possibly get their stuff back. There have been a lot of new yard signs being placed in people’s front yards announcing that they have an adt security system in place, which is supposed to be a deterrent to break ins in itself.

I’m glad to know that people all over the world are doing wonderful things in a huge effort to save our Mother Earth. Being “green” is certainly the way to be these days and rightfully so, says I. I have always done all that I can possibly do to recycle at home and at work. When I worked for a major insurance company I started and coordinated a recycling program that I hope is still be continued today even though I haven’t worked there for over a decade. It gave me something to sink my teeth into and it was a positive energy that I put to good use and was proud of the way it all turned out.

I’m now learning about e-waste recycling, which I am beginning to think is very interesting. Veolia Environmental Services, a waste management and industrial services which is located in Australia and their web site, Veoliaes.com.au, is one that I stumbled on the other night while looking up some information concerning waste management in Astralia.

I’m thinking on suggesting that the company that I work for now look into a program for their e-waste recycling items that are currently just getting tossed into the trash, thus landing in our precious land fills. I think I’m up for the challenge, it worked well with the last office, years back, so it only makes sense to try again.

I haven’t been ice skating in over a decade and was told that it was just like riding a bike, something that you just pick up again with ease, that is just plain B.S. I can tell you that. My back and behind are so tender and aching that it is funny and that will be the last time I attempt anything like that again, I should have listened to my “inner self” and gone with my gut feeling of staying at home at watching the professional ice skaters that are being televised right now.

Guest post of the week by Deangelo Spencer

My youngest daughter lives in Millstadt, Illinois, a small rural town, in the southwestern part of the state, bordering Missouri. The population is less than five thousand and most of them are of German descent, one of which is my son-in-law. My daughter is a GRITS – a girl raised in the south, and, having been raised in a much larger city than Millstadt, she initially had a difficult time adjusting to life there. Her husband works in the family business. He knew he would settle back there after college, which is where he met my daughter, so she will always live in Millstadt. I have been to visit several times and found it be a quaint little town. I will be visiting more than ever now that I have a grandchild there! One of the first things I encouraged my daughter and son-in-law to do while they were expecting was call millstadt home security and have a security system installed. She tells me it was the best decision she and her husband ever made.

My boyfriend and I were talking about what our dream vacation would be like, it is a good thing that we have basically the same taste in such things. We both agree that we need to be in warm weather and near a body of water in order to relax and have fun.

We got on the Internet and started looking around and found a web-site Oceano-rentals.com that had some very interesting places to check into. One page was telling us we must Visit Las Palomas Rocky Point and after reading about it I agree that we must visit it indeed.

We would want to rent a small house right on the beach, a hotel room would be just a waste of money and we would feel better relaxed in a house that we could cook and do laundry in when necessary. We love eating out, but not three times a day, over and over again, so it would be nice to be able to fix things at our leisure right where we are.

My daughter has a friend from school that had gotten another one of the girls from her school pregnant and had just found this news out about a week ago. They were apparently dating for several months until she said she wanted to go on a different road then him, and then found out she was pregnant not too long after. I can only imagine what this child is going through, because from what I have heard, her mother had just gotten out of the Air Force a few months ago and seems to be very strict. Her father is also in the Air force and won’t be returning home to his family until September.

Well this young girl has been living with her grandparents since her parents had left for the Air Force and has apparently been getting into all kinds of trouble since then. She had told my daughter that she is going to refuse to put the baby up for adoption and is completely against abortions and has no idea on what to do. I can’t imagine what her parents are going to say when they find out, and I hope for the best for this girl, she had always been a good friend to my daughter, and hoping it stays that way. I just hope she finds a solution and/or an option that suits her and that her parents will agree with.

I’d remembered my nephew mentioning about a website that sold police gear and that kind of stuff over the Internet. Naturally I interjected with this information and wouldn’t you know that half of them still didn’t have much knowledge about computers!! I said, “Look, if you want to order things without leaving the farm, you really should obtain a computer! Besides, the only place I know for you to get that kind of stuff is online.”
